O'Tar Norwood M.D. has been performing hair transplantation surgery for almost 30 years. Early on he saw the need for a widely-accepted, reproducible standard of classification for male pattern baldness. His study, "Male Pattern Baldness: Classification And Incidence", published in 1975, became a classic and remains the standard in male pattern baldness today. It is used by all hair transplantation surgeons and physicians from all over the world studying and communicating about male pattern baldness.

He published his first book in 1974 and the second edition in 1984. He has more than 30 published articles and is sought after as a teacher and lecturer.

He is the co-founder of the largest and most influential hair transplantation surgery organization in the world, the International Society for Hair Restoration Surgery, founded in 1992. In 1990 he initiated a brand new concept in medical communication with the launching of the "Hair Transplant FORUM International", a bi-monthly newsletter/magazine that goes to all the hair transplantation surgeons in the world. This small informal publication changed hair transplantation surgery completely and has become the official journal of the ISHRS.

With the introduction of the FORUM there was a sudden increase in the exchange of ideas, information, concepts, and opinions, causing the entire hair transplantation industry to move rapidly towards better results for correcting male pattern baldness and more satisfied patients.

Perhaps the greatest compliment and best introduction to Blaine Lehr M.D. is a statement from Dr. Norwood. He states, "Over the last thirty years, I have been associated with, worked with, and in fact have trained many of the other leading hair transplant surgeons in the world. As the demand for my services increased, I knew I needed an associate, and I knew because of my reputation I could choose anyone. I did not want to sell out to one of the large nationwide franchises. You have no control over their integrity or the quality of their work. I first began working with Blaine in 1993. I recognized his natural ability immediately. Just as importantly, I found him to be honest in all circumstances. He is a hair transplant surgeon of the highest quality."

Dr. Blaine Lehr received his undergraduate degree from the University of Oklahoma where he graduated with highest honors. He entered college as the recipient of the R. Boyd Gunning Scholarship. He subsequently attended the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine where he received numerous awards including the Tom Lowry Award for ranking 1st in the class after the first year and the Mark R. Everett Award for most promise in a second year student. He was initiated into the Alpha Omega Alpha National Medical Honor Society during medical school.

Dr. Lehr is a board-certified dermatologist. In addition to his hair transplant practice, he runs a dermatology clinic and performs Mohs micrographic surgery for skin cancers. He is a member of the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery, the International Alliance of Hair Restoration Surgeons, the Hair Transplant Network, the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Medical Association, the Oklahoma State Medical Association, and the American Society for Mohs Surgery. Dr. Lehr contributes articles to the Hair Transplant FORUM International and has been working in hair transplantation surgery with Dr. Norwood since 1993.
